Consumers in Saudi Arabia are seeing more supermarket promotions on poultry and eggs as domestic production expands and competition among local producers intensifies. During major promotions in 2026, whole chicken has been discounted to around SAR 10 while a standard tray of eggs has dropped to about SAR 9.
The average retail price for a 900-gram locally produced whole chicken stood at SAR 19.36 in August 2026. Commodity data indicate that average prices for locally produced chicken stayed close to 2025 levels through January–August 2026, with no sharp spikes or collapses over the period, offering households relative price stability.
Supply has grown quickly on the egg side. Table egg production exceeded 8.4 billion eggs by 2024, a 6.4% year-on-year rise, while output in April 2026 reached about 1.845 billion eggs, up roughly 18.9% year-on-year. The Kingdom has surpassed 100% self-sufficiency in eggs, reaching about 112% as of 2024, opening room for exports to GCC markets.
A growing market
The Saudi poultry meat market is projected to reach about USD 18.75 billion in 2026, up from USD 18.01 billion in 2025, growing around 4–5% annually. The egg market is estimated at USD 1.47–1.61 billion in 2026. Leading producers active locally include Al Gharbia Farms, Tanmiah Food Company, Al Ain Farms, Al Watania for Industries, Fakieh Group, Al Kadi, ARASCO, Golden Chicken Farms and Alghadeer Group, with the top five controlling about 56% of the egg market.
Recent developments include Tanmiah's expansion of production facilities, Fakieh Group's nutrient-enriched egg lines, and investments in automation and advanced feed technologies by Al Watania and ARASCO. Government support linked to رؤية السعودية 2030, estimated at around USD 2 billion, is funding farm modernization, cold-chain infrastructure and biosecurity standards. For residents, the trend points to steadier supply and more competitive prices at the checkout.
