Saudi Toyota Hill Climb Championship Opens in Taif

The 2026 Saudi Toyota Hill Climb Championship got underway in Taif Governorate, with 43 drivers taking to the Al-Muhammadiyah Hill track for the opening round. Mamoon Al-Qabbani emerged as the winner of the first round.

The championship runs across three rounds this season, with the Taif opener setting the stage before the campaign concludes in a later round. The strong turnout of 43 competitors underlined growing interest in hill climb racing in the Kingdom.

Organizers have set attractive rewards for the season. The overall first-place winner is set to receive a GR 86 MT car, while a total of SR50,000 in cash prizes will be distributed among the winners of the various categories.

Why it matters

Motorsport continues to gain momentum across Saudi Arabia, with events like the Hill Climb Championship offering local drivers a competitive platform close to home. Taif, known for its elevated terrain and mountain roads, provides a fitting backdrop for a discipline built around demanding uphill courses.

For residents and motorsport fans in Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the championship adds another homegrown series to the Kingdom's expanding calendar of racing events, giving enthusiasts more opportunities to follow and support Saudi talent behind the wheel.
