Two Falcons Sell for SAR 380,000 at Malham Auction

Two Canadian-bred falcons were sold for a combined SAR 380,000 on the 10th night of the International Falcon Breeders Auction 2026, held in Malham, north of Riyadh. The auction, organized by the National Center for Falcons / Saudi Falcons Club, runs from 5 August to 25 August 2026 at the center's headquarters.

The first falcon fetched SAR 175,000, while the second sold for SAR 205,000. The auction takes place through live bidding sessions and breeders' pavilions, welcoming buyers on-site as well as those participating remotely through television broadcast and livestreamed online bidding platforms.

The venue is generally open to the public from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Notably, transactions for buying and selling falcons are carried out without any auction fees charged to either buyers or sellers, making participation straightforward for all attendees.

This year's edition brings together local and international breeding farms from countries including Austria, the Netherlands, Romania, Ireland, and Canada, all shipping birds into the Kingdom for sale. Under updated 2026 racing rules, only falcons purchased through the auction are eligible to compete in all local and international chick-racing categories, subject to race regulations.

Why it matters

The auction forms part of a wider annual falconry calendar coordinated by Saudi falconry authorities, aimed at establishing Riyadh and Malham as a global hub for elite falcon bloodlines and competitive falcon sports. For residents and enthusiasts, it offers a rare chance to witness top-tier falcons and the heritage of falconry up close, with participation and purchases handled directly through the center's registration and bidding systems.
