Al-Ahli and Riyad Mahrez Part Ways

Al-Ahli and winger Riyad Mahrez have parted ways, with the Algerian international leaving the club in July 2026 and becoming a free agent. The separation was completed as a contract termination by mutual agreement rather than a paid transfer to another club.

Mahrez had joined Al-Ahli in 2023 from Manchester City in a deal reported at around £30 million, with some accounts placing the figure at €35 million. The original contract was said to run until June 2027, meaning the departure ends the arrangement roughly one year early.

the deal included a termination clause allowing either side to end it in June 2026 for $15 million, with the remaining contract value cited at $40 million. These figures were reported rather than officially detailed by the club in the information available.

Across his time in the Saudi Pro League, Mahrez was reported to have made 122 appearances for Al-Ahli, scoring 37 goals and providing 46 assists in all competitions — a productive contribution during one of the league's most high-profile eras.

For fans and the wider community, the move underlines the continued movement of established international stars in and out of Saudi football, a trend that has reshaped the domestic game in recent seasons. As a free agent, Mahrez is now able to negotiate freely with any interested club.
