Al Ahli Extends Roger Ibañez Contract Until 2030

Al Ahli Saudi Football Club has extended the contract of Brazilian centre-back Roger Ibañez until the summer of 2030, confirming him as a long-term part of the team's plans in the Saudi Pro League. The extension was made official in early August 2026.

Ibañez originally joined Al Ahli in August 2023 on a four-season deal that was set to expire in June 2027. The new agreement replaces that arrangement, with his contract now listed as ending on 30 June 2030 following the extension recorded on 9 August 2026.

The club has framed the renewal as part of its long-term squad planning, keeping the defender as a key pillar of its backline after a period of continental and domestic success. Ibañez has established himself as a central figure in the team's defensive setup since his arrival.

No official figures for the new contract's value, salary, bonuses, or extension fees have been disclosed. Earlier reporting placed his 2023 transfer to Al Ahli at around €28.5–30 million including bonuses, but no Saudi riyal breakdown has been published.

Why it matters for fans

For supporters, the extension signals stability at the heart of the defence as the club builds for the seasons ahead. Professional player contracts at Saudi clubs are handled through the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and Saudi Pro League regulatory processes, and are not managed through public e-government platforms used by residents. The move underlines Al Ahli's intent to retain proven talent as competition across the league continues to grow.
