Al Nassr Sign Portugal Midfielder Samu Costa

Al Nassr have completed the signing of Portugal international defensive midfielder Samu Costa from RCD Mallorca, the club confirmed on 9 August 2026 during the summer transfer window. The player has agreed a long-term contract that runs until June 2030.

The transfer was finalised after Al Nassr obtained the Financial Efficiency Certificate required to register new players in the Saudi Pro League. The official announcement had been delayed by financial regulations and player registration clearance, even though an agreement between the two clubs was already in place.

Reported figures for the deal vary. Some accounts indicate Al Nassr triggered a €22 million buyout clause, roughly SAR 88–90 million, while others describe an agreed transfer fee of €9 million paid in two instalments, approximately SAR 36–38 million. A 20% sell-on clause held by Almería from a previous transfer meant that club received just over €4 million, around SAR 16–17 million, from the move.

Costa is registered as a Saudi Pro League player for Al Nassr from the 2026–27 season, and he has already recorded early competitive appearances for his new side.

The signing reinforces Al Nassr's midfield options and reflects the continued efforts of Saudi clubs to attract established international talent. For fans, the addition of an experienced defensive midfielder strengthens the squad ahead of a demanding domestic and continental campaign. The registration was processed through the league's player registration system and the Saudi football federation's regulatory framework.
