Al Nassr Sign Portugal's Samu Costa from Mallorca

Al Nassr have bolstered their midfield with the signing of Portugal international Samu Costa, who joined the club on a permanent deal on 9 August 2026 from Spanish side Real Mallorca. The move was completed and announced during the 2026 Saudi summer transfer window.

Costa, a defensive midfielder born on 27 November 2000, is expected to fill the role vacated by the departure of Marcelo Brozović. Reported transfer fees for the deal ranged between €9 million and €22 million, with one account citing €9 million paid in two instalments and another citing €22 million, plus a sell-on payment to Almería of just over €4 million. At an indicative August 2026 exchange rate of roughly €1 to 4.1–4.2 SAR, those figures convert to approximately 36.9–37.8 million SAR at the lower end and 90.2–92.4 million SAR at the higher end, with the sell-on portion equivalent to around 16.4–16.8 million SAR. These conversions are mathematical only and are not officially published amounts.

Although an agreement had been in place since July 2026, the transfer was delayed by administrative and player-registration procedures in Saudi Arabia before being finalized. Once his registration was completed, Costa became eligible to feature in the Saudi Pro League from the 2026–27 season, and he marked his arrival by scoring on his league debut for the club in August 2026.

The signing forms part of Al Nassr's squad-building efforts ahead of the new campaign. For fans across Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the arrival adds international experience to the club's midfield as the new Saudi Pro League season gets under way, reflecting the continued growth of top-flight football in the Kingdom.
