Al Taawoun Fined SAR 100,000, Two Games Behind Closed Doors

Saudi Pro League club Al Taawoun has been fined SAR 100,000 and ordered to play its next two home league matches behind closed doors after offensive chants by its supporters during a Roshn League fixture against Al Hilal. The Saudi Arabian Football Federation's Disciplinary and Ethics Committee issued the ruling in mid-September 2026.

Under the decision, the club must play two consecutive home league games with no spectators allowed inside the stadium. The measure applies only to the club's Saudi Pro League home fixtures, and does not extend to away matches or other competitions.

The committee found that the chants violated Article 51-2 of the Disciplinary and Ethics Regulations, with the sanction increased under Article 39-4. The SAR 100,000 penalty is a single club-level fine payable to the federation, not a per-match charge. The ruling stated the decision is not subject to appeal, making the fine and the stadium ban final and immediately enforceable for the designated matches.

The sanctions are one-off measures tied to this incident. As of September 21, 2026, no additional or revised financial penalties, no reduction of the SAR 100,000 amount, and no change to the two-match requirement have been announced. There is no installment plan, recurring fee, or extended period beyond the two specified home matches and the single payment.

The disciplinary fine is processed through the federation's official financial and disciplinary channels. It is not handled via public e-government platforms, and no change has been announced linking this club fine to those systems. For fans and residents, the ruling means the two upcoming home fixtures will take place inside an empty stadium, and it underlines the federation's stance on crowd conduct at league matches.
