Saudi Aramco has set its September 2026 benchmark prices for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exported to Asian markets, raising both propane and butane rates compared with August. The new figures place propane at USD 625
The propane benchmark was lifted by USD 5 while butane rose by a larger USD 20 This widened the propane–butane spread to about USD 35 a gap that reflects tighter butane supply relative to propane.
At an approximate exchange rate of 3.75 SAR the September benchmarks translate to indicative values of roughly 2,344 SAR 475 SAR These are currency conversions of the USD figures rather than official postings in riyals.
Why it matters
These are wholesale export reference prices — also known as official selling prices or contract prices — used as a benchmark for Middle East LPG shipments to buyers across the Asia-Pacific region. Typical blended values based on the September contract prices include USD 642.5 per tonne for a 50/50 propane-butane mix.
It is important to note that these benchmarks are not domestic Saudi retail prices. Any cylinder or utility tariffs for households and businesses inside the Kingdom are determined through separate domestic pricing mechanisms. The export benchmarks are revised monthly by Saudi Aramco, with the September figures published around the turn of the month, on 31 August–1 September 2026.
