Cabinet Approves Merger Creating Foreign Trade and Export Authority

The Cabinet has approved the merger of two government bodies into a single entity to be known as the General Authority for Foreign Trade and Export. The decision brings together the General Authority for Foreign Trade and the Saudi Export Development Authority under one organization.

the merger will take effect once the new authority's organizational arrangements are approved. The required merger measures and any necessary legal procedures are to be prepared within 180 days.

The new authority will be linked to the Supreme Committee for Trade, Industry, Localization and Exports, which will set its strategic directions and targets. This structure is intended to unify the management of foreign trade and export development under a clearer, more coordinated framework.

Why it matters

For businesses, traders, and exporters operating in the Kingdom, bringing these functions together under one authority may simplify how trade and export services are organized in the future. The move reflects continued efforts to streamline government entities and support the growth of Saudi exports.

The Cabinet decision did not specify any fees, service prices, validity periods, or application steps, and no replacement official channel or platform was announced. Saudi Living will share further details once the new authority's organizational arrangements and procedures are confirmed.
