Saudi Foreign Trade Hits SAR 159 Billion in August 2026

Saudi Arabia's foreign merchandise trade reached approximately SAR 159 billion in August 2026, reflecting continued activity across both exports and imports,

Merchandise exports totaled around SAR 87 billion during the month, while imports stood at about SAR 72 billion. The gap between the two produced a trade surplus of roughly SAR 16 billion, underscoring the Kingdom's position as a net exporter.

Non-oil trade in focus

National non-oil exports, excluding re-exports, amounted to about SAR 18.3 billion. When re-exports are included, non-oil exports reached approximately SAR 26.1 billion. That figure was equal to 36.5% of total imports for the month.

The growth of non-oil exports is a key indicator watched closely under the Kingdom's long-term economic diversification drive, as officials work to broaden income sources beyond crude oil and strengthen local manufacturing and services.

For residents and the business community in cities such as the Riyadh and Jeddah, healthy trade figures point to steady demand across sectors, ongoing import flows of goods and materials, and expanding opportunities for companies tied to exports and logistics. A sustained trade surplus also supports the broader stability that households and investors rely on.
