Saudi Trade Hits SAR 158.8 Billion in August 2026

Saudi Arabia's merchandise trade reached SAR 158.874 billion in August 2026, as the Kingdom recorded robust export activity and a healthy surplus,

Merchandise exports totaled SAR 87.236 billion during the month, while imports came in at SAR 71.638 billion. The gap left the Kingdom with a trade surplus of SAR 15.598 billion.

Mineral products remained the Kingdom's largest export category at around SAR 61.5 billion. On the non-oil side, domestic non-oil exports excluding re-exports reached SAR 18.318 billion, while non-oil exports including re-exports totaled approximately SAR 26.1 billion — a measure closely watched as the country works to diversify its economy under Saudi Vision 2030.

On the import side, machinery, electrical equipment, and parts formed the largest category, valued at roughly SAR 18.8 billion. China was the leading source of imports, accounting for 21.9% of the total, while the United Arab Emirates was the top destination for Saudi exports at 11.4%.

Why it matters

For residents and businesses across Riyadh, Jeddah, and beyond, trade figures offer a snapshot of economic momentum. Growing non-oil exports point to progress in diversification efforts, which support jobs, investment, and a wider range of locally produced goods. The continued trade surplus also reflects a stable footing for the broader economy.
