Civil Defense Warns of Thunderstorms Through Wednesday

Residents across much of Saudi Arabia should prepare for unstable weather as thunderstorms are forecast over most regions of the Kingdom through Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Authorities have urged the public to take precautions and stay in safe locations.

Moderate to heavy rain is expected in Makkah, Jazan, Aseer, and Al-Baha, where conditions may bring flash floods, hail, and strong dust-raising downdrafts. Lighter to moderate rainfall is forecast for Madinah, Hail, Al-Jouf, and the Northern Borders.

How to stay safe

The public is advised to avoid valleys, flood channels, and areas where water collects during the unsettled period. Swimming or wading in floodwater should be avoided entirely, as currents can rise quickly and without warning.

Residents are encouraged to remain in safe locations and to follow official instructions issued through verified media and social-media channels. Motorists in affected regions should drive with extra caution, keep a safe distance, and avoid crossing flooded roads.

With rainfall expected to continue across several areas until mid-week, planning ahead and heeding official guidance will help keep families and communities safe during the changing conditions.
