More than 20,000 investors in Saudi Arabia are receiving compensation totaling around SAR 293 million for losses linked to trading violations in the shares of two listed firms, Al Kathiri Holding Co. and Anaam International Holding Group. The payouts are being deposited directly into eligible investors' bank accounts.
The compensation stems from a final ruling dated 14 December 2023, which ordered SAR 292.8 million in illegal gains to be paid to affected investors. A dedicated Compensation Fund was established by resolution of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) Board to distribute the recovered amounts.
Distribution is being carried out under a plan approved by the Committee for Resolution of Securities Disputes (CRSD) through Decision No. 3279/L/D1/2024. Eligible investors are those who traded in the affected shares during the periods covered by the violations and suffered losses tied to the misconduct. In some cases, individual compensation exceeded SAR 6 million.
What investors need to know
There is no application fee for this program, and the money is funded entirely from amounts recovered from the violators — not from investor payments. Investors do not need to apply through government portals; entitlements are calculated by the CMA and CRSD based on trading records and the final ruling, then credited automatically.
The main practical step for investors is to keep their bank account details up to date with their brokers and financial institutions so the compensation can be deposited. Any queries or objections follow the standard CMA and CRSD complaint and appeal procedures, using the CMA's official channels rather than general e-government platforms.
The move highlights ongoing efforts to protect retail investors and strengthen confidence in the Saudi capital market, ensuring that gains from market misconduct are returned to those who were harmed.
