CMA Compensates Over 20,000 Investors SAR 292.8M

More than 20,000 investors in Saudi Arabia have received compensation totaling around SAR 292.8 million after suffering losses from trading violations in the shares of two listed companies, Al Kathiri Holding Co. and Anaam International Holding Group.

The payouts were made through the Capital Market Authority's (CMA) Compensation Fund, following a final decision by the Appeal Committee for Resolution of Securities Disputes (ACRSD) published on 14 December 2023, which obliged violators to hand over SAR 292.8 million in illegal gains. A distribution plan was later approved by the Committee for Resolution of Securities Disputes (CRSD) under Decision No. 6724/L/D1/2026.

Eligible investors are those who traded shares of the two companies during the violation period and were harmed as a result. Compensation amounts were calculated based on the scale of the violations, the value of the illegal gains realized, and the extent of each investor's financial losses. In some cases, individual compensation exceeded SAR 6 million.

How payments were made

Funds were transferred directly to investors' registered bank accounts, and no separate application was required from those included in the approved distribution plan. The CMA and CRSD identified affected investors from verified trading records before executing the transfers from the Compensation Fund.

Investors who believe they were harmed but were not included in the distribution plan can still file individual compensation claims with the CRSD. Under the Capital Market Law, compensation is funded using recovered illegal gains, and any conduct that creates a false or misleading impression of a security's price or value is prohibited.

The move underscores ongoing efforts to protect retail and institutional investors and strengthen confidence in the Saudi capital market.
