The Capital Market Authority has ordered the suspension of trading in the shares of a listed company on the Saudi Exchange, effective Sunday 13 September 2026, under a board resolution dated 02/04/1448H. The move follows a request filed before the competent commercial court to begin liquidation procedures against the company under the Saudi Bankruptcy Law.
trading will remain suspended until two conditions are met: the CMA issues its own decision on the company's status, and the commercial court decides whether to accept or reject the start of liquidation procedures. The suspension is based on the authority's powers under Article 36 of the Listing Rules, alongside rules governing companies whose accumulated losses reach or exceed 50% of paid-in capital.
What happens next
If the company instead seeks financial restructuring, trading is suspended once the application is registered with the court, and is lifted if the court orders the restructuring to begin — unless another authority bars the company from operating. Should the court reject restructuring, the suspension continues until the period set in the Companies Law for addressing accumulated losses expires, or until losses fall below 50% of paid-in capital.
If the court orders liquidation or administrative liquidation, the company's securities are delisted from the Saudi Exchange upon issuance of that decision.
For investors and the wider community, the case is a reminder of how listed companies facing severe financial difficulty are handled under the Bankruptcy Law and Companies Law. Trading suspension protects shareholders while the court process runs its course, and the final outcome — resumption of trading or delisting — depends on the court's ruling and the CMA's subsequent resolution.
