Donis Named Saudi Coach Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Saudi Arabia has appointed Greek coach Georgios Donis as head coach of the national football team, with the decision taking effect on 24 April 2026. Donis takes charge as the team enters the final phase of its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Donis's contract runs through July 2027, giving him responsibility for leading the squad into and through the upcoming tournament. He succeeds Hervé Renard, who previously oversaw the national team.

The 2026 World Cup will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The national team is now focused on completing the remaining stages of its competition program ahead of the tournament, which represents one of the most anticipated chapters in Saudi football.

For fans across the Kingdom, the appointment marks the start of a new chapter in the team's World Cup journey. The coming months are expected to bring intensified training, friendly matches, and squad preparations as the national team works toward performing at the global stage.

Saudi Living will continue to follow the national team's preparations and share updates as the 2026 World Cup approaches.
