Free Prostate Biopsy Workshop Set for Jeddah

A hands-on medical education workshop focused on prostate cancer diagnosis is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Swissotel Jeddah Al-Hamra in Jeddah. The session centers on free-hand transperineal prostate biopsy performed under local anesthesia, giving attending practitioners practical exposure to the technique.

Described as a hands-on educational workshop, the event highlights ultrasound-guided methods used in detecting and diagnosing prostate cancer. The format is designed to strengthen local medical training by allowing participants to engage directly with the procedure rather than simply observing lectures.

seats are limited and no fees are required, with the listed entry fee set at zero Saudi Riyal. Those interested are encouraged to plan ahead given the restricted capacity.

Why it matters

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men, and early, accurate diagnosis plays a key role in treatment outcomes. Workshops that build local expertise in modern biopsy techniques support the wider goal of raising the standard of specialized care available within the Kingdom.

The transperineal approach under local anesthesia is increasingly used internationally, and hands-on training sessions like this help physicians in Saudi Arabia stay current with evolving practices. By hosting such events locally, the medical community in Jeddah can expand skills without the need for travel abroad.

The workshop reflects growing attention to specialized clinical education across Saudi Arabia, with practical, skills-based sessions complementing traditional academic learning. For medical professionals in Jeddah and the wider Western Region, the free, limited-seat format offers a focused opportunity to advance capabilities in cancer diagnosis.
