Jeddah Airport: Delays, Cancellations and Your Rights

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah remains operational, though travelers are experiencing some delays and cancellations. Passengers scheduled to fly are advised to confirm the current status of their flight before heading to the airport.

The quickest way to check a flight's status is through the airline's app or website, or by contacting its customer-service desk directly. Keeping an eye on updates can help travelers avoid long waits and plan accordingly.

Your rights as a passenger

When a flight is cancelled, the airline must offer an alternative flight or a full refund that includes any additional fees paid. If a delay exceeds two hours, passengers may request to cancel the booking and receive a refund without any deductions.

If a delay stretches beyond five hours, the flight may be treated as cancelled, and passengers can claim the applicable compensation.

Airlines are also required to provide passenger care during long waits. This includes refreshments after one hour, a suitable meal after three hours, and accommodation plus transport after six hours when applicable.

If an issue is not resolved directly with the airline, passengers in Saudi Arabia can submit a complaint to the General Authority of Civil Aviation. Knowing these entitlements helps travelers in Jeddah and across the Kingdom respond calmly and protect their interests during disruptions.
