Families and visitors heading to the Jeddah waterfront on the Red Sea continue to benefit from ongoing cleaning and public safety operations run by Jeddah Municipality across the corniche, parks and public spaces — efforts that run year-round rather than only in the summer months.
The municipality carries out daily cleaning, waste removal and disinfection along the waterfront, supported by round-the-clock field teams and a permanent operations center that oversees cleanliness and emergency response. A large workforce of cleaning staff and supervisors has been deployed to keep public areas ready for residents and tourists.
To keep operations on schedule, the municipality uses a high-tech monitoring system that tracks cleaning trucks, dumpsters and bins, helping identify areas that still need attention. The system is operated directly by the municipality, and no registration or fee is required for the public to benefit from it.
Safety cameras and littering fines
More than 100 surveillance cameras have been installed along the revamped waterfront, linked to Public Security and the municipality, to monitor safety and record violations. Littering or damaging public utilities and landmarks on the waterfront carries fines ranging from 200 SAR up to 5,000 SAR, in addition to repair costs where applicable.
These penalties are enforced under municipal and public-decency regulations, and are generally settled through national e-payment channels linked to government violations, such as SADAD within bank apps.
Recent initiatives have also targeted the marine environment. The "Our Sea, Our Responsibility" initiative in Jeddah focused on removing hazardous seabed debris threatening coral reefs and biodiversity, while an Environment Week 2025 coastal cleanup took place at Al-Hamra Beach under the theme "Our Environment, Our Treasure." A separate seabed cleanup effort was also carried out at Salman Bay Beach. For families enjoying the corniche, these combined efforts mean cleaner beaches, safer public spaces and a healthier Red Sea coastline.
