Jeddah Volunteers Launch Red Sea Cleanup Campaign

Volunteers in Jeddah are working to protect the Red Sea ecosystem through the sixth edition of the “Keep an Eye on the Sea” campaign, which is taking place along the Jeddah coastline until 26 September 2026.

The campaign features a range of activities, including beach and seabed cleanups, marine-conservation awareness programs, and interactive educational activities designed to encourage residents and visitors to care for the marine environment. An awareness pavilion has been set up at Roshn Waterfront in Jeddah to introduce the public to the campaign and its goals.

The initiative is organized through the Jeddah Governorate Volunteering and Community Partnership Program, known as “Lenobadir,” in cooperation with a number of government and private-sector partners.

Why it matters

The Red Sea is home to a rich and diverse marine environment, and community-driven efforts like this help raise awareness of the importance of keeping beaches and seabeds clean. By combining hands-on cleanups with educational programs, the campaign gives families, students, and volunteers a practical way to take part in protecting the coastline for the long term.

Residents interested in taking part can visit the awareness pavilion at Roshn Waterfront to learn more about the campaign and its activities, which continue until the end date of 26 September 2026.
