Nine Dead in Al-Ahsa Crash, Seven From One Family

Nine people were killed in a collision between two vehicles on the Al-Uqair–Al-Uyun road in Al-Ahsa governorate, in the Eastern Province, on 20 September 2026. Among the dead were seven members of a single Saudi family travelling in one of the vehicles.

the family that lost its members comprised the father, the mother, three sons, and two daughters. The other two victims were young men travelling in the second vehicle. All nine occupants of the two cars died as a result of the crash, with no survivors reported.

The Eastern Province Traffic Department indicated that a sudden swerve, or an abrupt deviation from the lane, was the cause of the collision. Both vehicles sustained severe damage, and some occupants were trapped inside the wreckage.

Civil Defense and Red Crescent rescue teams responded to the scene and carried out operations to free those trapped inside the two vehicles. The Al-Uqair–Al-Uyun road is an important route linking parts of Al-Ahsa with coastal areas of the Eastern Province.

The scale of the loss, particularly the death of an entire family in one vehicle, has drawn wide attention across the community. Road safety remains a pressing concern for residents and expatriates alike, and traffic authorities continue to urge drivers to maintain safe distances, avoid sudden lane changes, and stay alert on intercity roads. Investigations and any related procedures are being handled through the standard traffic, prosecution, and judicial channels.
