One of the most common mix-ups drivers in Saudi Arabia run into is assuming Najm is where you go to pay a traffic ticket. It isn't. Najm handles vehicle insurance services and accident reporting — it is not a payment channel for Traffic Department (Muroor) violations or Saher camera fines. So if you've received a fine and want to settle it, you'll be using a different set of official tools. In this Saudi Living guide, we walk you through exactly where to view your violations, how to pay them, and the practical details that save you time.
What Najm actually does (and doesn't do)
Najm is dedicated to insurance-related services and accident documentation. When there's a road accident, Najm helps report it and coordinate the insurance side. What Najm does not do is provide a channel to pay standard Muroor fines or Saher speeding and red-light violations. If your goal is paying a ticket, skip Najm and head straight to one of the channels below.
Absher: the primary way to view and pay fines
For individuals, Absher is the main official platform to view, manage, and pay traffic violations. You can use either the website or the app.
- Log in with your National ID or iqama number and password.
- Go to My Services → Traffic (Traffic Services).
- Open Traffic Violations or the comprehensive traffic violations inquiry.
- Select the violation(s) you want to settle and choose the payment option.
- Pay using Mada, Visa, MasterCard, or SADAD.
Payment is processed instantly, and a digital receipt with a transaction number is issued — keep it as proof of settlement.
Other official payment channels
Besides Absher, several channels let you settle fines conveniently:
- Muroor app: open the app, select the violation, tap "Pay Now," and complete payment through the gateway with your card.
- Banking apps and online banking (SADAD): use the "Government payments" or "Traffic Violations" option, choose the traffic violations biller listed as Ministry of Interior – Traffic Violations, enter your ID/iqama and the violation reference number, then confirm and pay. Some banks list the biller under code 007, others under 071 — check the description in your app to be sure you've selected the correct one.
- Bank ATMs: choose SADAD government payments, select the Traffic Department/Muroor biller, enter the violation reference, and pay.
- Bank branches: pay at the counter using the SADAD traffic violations service with your ID/iqama and violation number.
- Digital wallets: some wallets support traffic fine payment through SADAD integration.
Auxiliary portals for expats and multi-vehicle owners
Alongside Absher, the Efaa / Iffaa portals let you view and pay active traffic violations. These are especially handy for expats or people who own multiple vehicles and want a consolidated view. Note that platforms like Najiz, Muqeem, Qiwa, Nafath, Balady, Tawakkalna, and Etimad are not the primary channels for paying standard Muroor traffic fines — stick with Absher, the Muroor app, or your bank's SADAD service.
Common fine amounts to expect
Fines vary by the type and severity of the violation. As a rough guide for common offences:
- Running a red light: 3,000–6,000 SAR.
- Using a mobile phone while driving: 500–900 SAR.
- Speeding 10–20 km/h over the limit: 300–500 SAR.
- Speeding 20–30 km/h over the limit: 800–1,200 SAR.
Since amounts and rules can be updated, always confirm the exact figure shown against your violation in Absher before paying.
Practical tips before you pay
- Always verify the violation details in Absher first, so you're settling the correct ticket.
- Keep the digital receipt or transaction number after each payment.
- If you own several vehicles, review the comprehensive inquiry so no violation slips through.
- When in doubt about a biller code or a fine amount, confirm through the official Absher platform rather than relying on memory.
In short: use Najm for insurance and accidents, and use Absher, the Muroor app, or your bank's SADAD service for fines. That simple distinction keeps you from wasting time in the wrong place.
