A red weather alert has been issued for Jeddah and five other governorates in the Makkah Region, warning residents of severe conditions expected through the afternoon of Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The alert covers Jeddah, Rabigh, Khulais, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, and Bahrah.
Authorities warned of heavy rainfall, strong winds, reduced visibility, hail, thunderstorms, and flash-flood runoff across the affected areas. The alert is valid from midnight until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
Residents are advised to take precautions, avoid low-lying areas and valleys prone to flooding, and stay away from flood runoff. Drivers should reduce speed and keep a safe distance during periods of reduced visibility.
How to stay updated
Alert status and validity can change quickly. Residents can check the latest Saudi-specific weather updates through the National Center of Meteorology's Early Warning System. There is no fee for receiving or checking weather alerts through official government channels.
This alert does not require any Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Najiz, Nafath, or Tawakkalna procedure or payment. Beware of any message asking for fees to view weather information, as official alerts are always free.
Given Jeddah's history with rainfall and drainage challenges, community members are encouraged to monitor conditions, follow the guidance of civil authorities, and delay non-essential travel during the alert period.
