Heavy-rain warnings were issued on October 19, 2026 for several parts of the Makkah region, with residents urged to take precautions against torrential rain and flash floods. The alerts covered a wide stretch of governorates and valleys where sudden downpours can turn roads and low-lying areas dangerous within minutes.
The affected areas included Adam, Al Lith, Maysan, Al Ardiyat, Taif, Adham, Turbah, Al Jumum, Bahra, Al Kamil, and Al Qunfudhah. Warning periods varied by location, with some running from around 1:00 p.m. to between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the same day.
Authorities said the weather could bring torrential rain, flash floods, hail, thunderstorms, strong winds, dust, and reduced or near-zero visibility. Such conditions raise the risk of water accumulating in valleys and flood-prone spots, while blowing dust and poor visibility can make driving hazardous.
Safety guidance
Residents were advised to remain in safe places, avoid valleys and low-lying areas at risk of flooding, and refrain from swimming or wading in floodwater. People were also urged to follow Civil Defense instructions and stay updated on conditions in their area.
For communities across the Makkah region, the warnings are a reminder to plan journeys carefully during the alert hours, keep children away from running water, and allow extra time or delay travel if visibility drops. Taking simple precautions early can prevent serious incidents when heavy rain moves in.
