Saudi authorities issued public safety alerts on 24 September 2026 covering five areas — Makkah City, Jeddah Governorate, Yanbu Governorate, Taif Governorate, and Tabuk Province — warning residents of a potential danger and urging immediate protective action.
The National Early Warning Platform advised residents to move at once to a safe indoor location, stay away from windows, glass, balconies, and rooftops, and remain sheltered until the danger had passed. Anyone outdoors was told to seek shelter inside a nearby building or behind a solid barrier.
Residents were also asked to avoid dangerous areas and crowds, and not to photograph or film emergency events. Saudi Civil Defense later announced that the danger had passed in all five areas, while advising the public to keep following official instructions.
Emergency numbers and official channels
The emergency number in Makkah is 911, while 998 reaches Civil Defense in the other regions, including Jeddah, Yanbu, Taif, and Tabuk. Official updates during such events are shared through the National Early Warning Platform, Saudi Civil Defense announcements, and emergency alerts.
For residents and expats across the Kingdom, alerts like these are a reminder to keep emergency numbers saved and to act quickly when a warning is issued. No fees, forms, or online procedures apply to public safety alerts — they are broadcast directly to help keep communities safe. Following the guidance immediately, and only relying on official channels for updates, remains the safest response.
