Riyadh Launches 6 Community Sports Tournaments

Riyadh Municipality has launched six community sports tournaments during September 2026, held across 11 locations within the central Riyadh sector and open to residents of different age groups.

The tournaments cover a mix of team and traditional competitions: a neighborhood football league, a volunteer teams football league, basketball, volleyball, as well as the popular card and board games Baloot and Domino. The lineup is designed to bring together families and neighbors from across the capital.

Alongside the matches, organizers are running more than 15 recreational, educational, and health activities, turning the tournaments into wider community gatherings rather than sporting events alone. Around 40 government, private, non-profit, and volunteer entities are taking part in delivering the initiative.

Why it matters

The initiative gives Riyadh residents accessible, neighborhood-level activities that encourage physical activity and social connection during the month. By combining competitive sport with family-friendly side events, it aims to reach a broad audience across the central sector.

No participation fees or entry prices have been announced. Organizers have not yet published a detailed list of the 11 venues or the daily match schedules, nor a unified registration process or dedicated sign-up channel. The initiative is seasonal and scheduled to run through September 2026.
