Community sports activities are spreading across Saudi Arabia through the Ministry of Sport's Community Sports in Public Parks initiative, offering residents of all ages free, non-professional physical activities designed to support health and social goals. The programme brings walking, running, cycling, fitness exercises, and other heart-raising movement directly to neighbourhood parks.
In Riyadh, activities are offered at several parks, including Al Jabal Park in Dhahrat Laban, Al-Taif Park, Al Kanari Park, Al Yaqot Park, Al-Deem Park, and Al-Sahab Park. Additional announced venues include Al Multaqa Park, Murcia Park, and Al Hamra Park, along with parks in Buraidah, Taif, Abha, Jeddah, the Eastern Province, and Jazan.
Outside the capital, Buraidah activities take place at the Sports Center on King Salman Road, Taif activities are held at Al Raddaf Park, and Jazan activities are offered at Al Awajmah Park. The Saudi Sports for All Federation also links park-based walking with digital participation through its Steps Challenge, which connects outdoor activity with online platforms.
Why it matters
Participation in public-park activities is generally free, with no registration fee, paid membership, fixed validity period, or booking charge stated in the available official information. Activity schedules vary by park and event, so no uniform daily timings apply.
The initiative aims to expand sustainable physical activity and make sport part of everyday life across Saudi communities. Residents can follow official channels — the Ministry of Sport, the Saudi Sports for All Federation, municipal authorities, and related digital platforms — for schedules and updates specific to their local park.
