First Sports Boulevard Destinations Open in Riyadh

Riyadh has opened the first destinations of its Sports Boulevard project, with the initial phase launched in February 2025 and further sites following through the year. The project aims to give residents and visitors new spaces for walking, cycling, and outdoor activity across the capital.

Among the destinations now identified are Wadi Hanifah, stretching 14.3 km from Al-Olab Dam to Jeddah Road; The Promenade, a 4 km route along Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road and Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al Awwal Road; and the Arts Tower area at the intersection of these two roads. A 20 km internal cycling loop has also opened inside Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, alongside the first phase of Sands Sports Park and The Grove, which opened in December 2025.

When complete, the Sports Boulevard will extend more than 135 km across Riyadh, linking Wadi Hanifah in the west with Wadi Al-Sulai in the east. Following the first phase, roughly 83 km of paths and tracks are now ready for use. The project combines walking, cycling, and equestrian paths with sports facilities, green spaces, gardens, cultural venues, recreation areas, and visitor service stations.

No official admission fee or fixed activity-price schedule has been identified for these destinations, and no single operating timetable applies across all sites — access to outdoor pathways and public areas generally depends on the location and event schedules. Visitors can find destination and visitor details through the project's official website.

Further sections remain under development, including The Valley, the King Abdulaziz Road Tunnel, and the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Road Tunnel. For Riyadh residents, the project adds a major network of green, active spaces that supports healthier daily routines and brings more outdoor options to the heart of the city.
