Saudi Arabia Wins Arabian Gulf Cup for First Time Since 2004

Saudi Arabia lifted the 2026 Arabian Gulf Cup after defeating the United Arab Emirates 2–0 in the final held at Alinma Stadium in Jeddah, claiming the title for the first time since 2004.

The victory marks Saudi Arabia's fourth Arabian Gulf Cup championship and ends a long wait of more than two decades for the regional crown. The final, played on home soil in front of Saudi fans, saw the national team control the match and seal the result with two goals.

One of the standout features of the campaign was the team's defensive record. Saudi Arabia completed the entire tournament without conceding a single goal, finishing as the only side to keep a clean sheet from start to finish.

Why it matters

For football fans across the Kingdom and the wider Gulf, the result is a significant milestone. The Arabian Gulf Cup is one of the region's most closely followed competitions, and hosting and winning the final in Jeddah adds to the celebration for local supporters.

The achievement comes as Saudi Arabia continues to raise its profile as a host of major sporting events, bringing international and regional tournaments to cities such as Jeddah and Riyadh. For residents and visitors alike, the win offers another moment of national pride and a boost for the growing sports scene in the Kingdom.
