Saudi Arabia will host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, marking the first time the Kingdom stages Asia's flagship national-team football tournament. Matches will be spread across the country, with the capital as the centrepiece of the competition.
Riyadh will anchor the event, with King Fahd Sports City Stadium serving as the flagship venue. After renovation, the stadium is expected to hold around 72,000 spectators and is designated to host the opening match, the final, Saudi Arabia's group-stage games, and knockout fixtures up to at least the quarterfinals.
Additional Riyadh venues include King Saud University Stadium (Al Awwal Park), Kingdom Arena, Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud University Stadium and Al Shabab Club Stadium, with capacities ranging from about 14,000 to 26,000 seats.
Venues in Jeddah and Al Khobar
In Jeddah, King Abdullah Sports City Stadium (Al Jawhara) is set to hold roughly 60,000 to 62,000 spectators, alongside Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium with about 26,000 to 27,000 seats. In the Eastern Province, the new Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar is planned with a capacity of around 45,000. Dammam-area stadiums were also listed among the venues in earlier host documentation.
For residents and expats across the Kingdom, the tournament promises weeks of top-level football close to home, plus a boost for hospitality, transport and tourism in the host cities. As the country's first time hosting the continent's biggest national-team event, the 2027 edition is set to be a landmark moment for football fans in Saudi Arabia.
