Business confidence in Saudi Arabia strengthened in August 2026, with the Kingdom's non-oil Business Confidence Index climbing to 56.7 points, up from 56.5 points in July. Readings above 50 signal optimism among companies rather than pessimism, keeping the indicator firmly in positive territory.
The gains were led by two key sectors. The industry index rose to 55.8 points in August from 54.7 in July, while the services index climbed to 56.1 points from 55.3. Both sectors moved higher month on month, pointing to broadening confidence across the non-oil economy.
Why it matters
The index measures how businesses view current conditions and their expectations for the months ahead. Sustained readings above 50 suggest that companies in manufacturing and services expect steady demand, which can support hiring, investment, and expansion.
For residents and workers across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, rising confidence in the non-oil sectors is a useful signal of economic health beyond the energy sector. Growth in industry and services often translates into new job openings, more consumer choice, and continued momentum for small and medium-sized enterprises that form a large share of everyday commercial activity in the Kingdom.
