Six consortiums have qualified to compete for the public-private partnership (PPP) project to develop and operate Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz International Airport in the Qassim Region of Saudi Arabia. The project follows a Build–Transfer–Operate model, in which the winning bidder will build and manage the facility before it is transferred.
The qualified groups are: YDA Insaat / Safari Group / Lamar Holding / Egis; Ports Projects Management & Development Company / Algihaz Holding; Mada International Holding / TAV Airports Holding; Namaya International Investment Company / Oman Airports Management Company / AlBawani Capital / Tanama; Vision Invest / Asyad Holding / DAA International; and GMR Airports.
The tender drew strong interest, attracting 89 firms in total — 55 Saudi companies and 34 international companies. The Expression of Interest (EOI) stage was launched on 9 February 2026 and closed on 23 February 2026 at 11:59 PM KSA time.
Why it matters
The prequalification marks an early step in a major aviation project for the Qassim Region, one of several airports being developed through private-sector partnerships across the Kingdom. For residents and travellers in Qassim, an upgraded airport could mean expanded capacity, improved services, and better connectivity in the years ahead.
The involvement of a mix of leading Saudi and international operators reflects growing investor confidence in the country's aviation sector. Further details on the next stages of the bidding process are expected to be announced in due course.
