Saudi Business Confidence Rises to 56.7 Points

Saudi Arabia's Business Confidence Index for non-oil activities has risen to 56.7 points, up from 56.5 points in the previous reading, keeping the measure comfortably above the 50-point neutral threshold that separates expansion from contraction. The index, compiled by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) as an official economic indicator, points to continued growth in the Kingdom's non-oil private sector.

The latest reading reflects sustained optimism across two major areas: industrial confidence, currently around the mid-50s, and services confidence, sitting slightly higher. Both remain firmly in expansion territory, signaling positive expectations for output, investment, and employment across the non-oil economy.

How the index works

The Business Confidence Index is measured on a 0-100 scale, with 50 representing neutral sentiment. Any figure above that level indicates that businesses expect conditions to improve. Policymakers, investors, and companies use it as a barometer for tracking momentum in the non-oil sector, a key focus of the Kingdom's economic diversification efforts.

Separately, the non-oil private sector Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) has recently been reported in the mid-to-high 50s, including a reading of 57.8 in a recent measurement. This reinforces the picture of robust operating conditions and steady growth outside the oil sector.

For residents and businesses, it is worth noting that both the Business Confidence Index and the PMI are informational macroeconomic indicators only. They carry no fees in Saudi Riyal, require no application steps or registrations, and are not accessed through platforms such as أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ, or توكلنا. No regulatory or procedural changes for citizens or residents are attached to these measures; they simply offer a snapshot of confidence and activity in the non-oil economy.
