Saudi Arabia issued royal decrees appointing Salman bin Yousuf bin Ali Al-Dossary as Minister of Media of the Kingdom, in decrees dated Sunday, 5 March 2023. He continues to serve in the role in 2026.
The same set of royal decrees included several senior appointments. Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Sultan was appointed Minister of State and member of the Cabinet, while Hammoud bin Badah Al-Muraikhi was appointed Advisor at the Royal Court with the rank of Minister. Lieutenant-General Mohammad bin Amer bin Mohammad Al-Harbi was appointed Deputy Chief of General Intelligence.
These decrees are sovereign orders published through official state channels and the Saudi Official Gazette. They do not involve any public fees, service charges, or application steps through citizen-facing platforms such as Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Najiz, Nafath or Tawakkalna. There is no transactional process, validity period, or renewal fee for citizens or residents connected to these appointments.
Why it matters
For residents and expats, the appointment of the Minister of Media shapes how national media initiatives, public communication, and information services are led. As of 2026, Salman Al-Dossary remains in office and actively represents the government in Cabinet sessions, national media initiatives, and international forums, including media forums and press conferences held between 2024 and 2026.
Because these are sovereign appointments rather than a service, community members are not required to take any action, submit any documents, or pay any charges.
