Saudi Arabia is broadening its ambitions in gaming and esports through a mix of education, infrastructure and financial support, guided by the National Gaming and Esports Strategy that serves as the main framework for the sector across the Kingdom.
On the education side, the strategy sets out enablers that include practical gaming-related academic curricula, partnerships with global gaming institutes, esports academies, and research centers of excellence. These channels aim to develop local talent capable of working in game production and competitive play.
Infrastructure is another key pillar. The strategy points to ultra-low-latency connectivity, regional servers, esports arenas, gaming-related venues, and production facilities intended to serve gaming and esports companies operating in the Kingdom.
Financial support is expanding as well. By the end of Q4 2025, the National Development Fund's Gaming and Esports Financing Program had approved more than SAR 421 million, benefiting 82 entities and supporting the development of more than 127 games. Financing is available through products offered with the Social Development Bank, alongside public incentives outlined in the strategy.
Competitive gaming is also growing. The 2026 Saudi Esports League season launched with SAR 4 million in total prize money, while the Saudi Esports Federation and the Saudi Esports Academy continue to act as active talent-development channels for players and professionals.
For residents and expats in Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the expansion signals wider opportunities in study paths, jobs and events tied to a fast-growing industry — from game studios and production facilities to dedicated arenas and organized competitions.
