Saudi Gaming Strategy Eyes 39,000 Jobs by 2030

Saudi Arabia is aiming to turn video games and esports into a major economic sector, with an ambitious set of goals set for the year 2030 under its National Gaming and Esports Strategy, which was launched on 15 September 2022.

The strategy sets clear national targets. By 2030, the sector is expected to contribute more than SAR 50 billion in direct and indirect value to the national economy, while creating over 39,000 direct and indirect jobs. It also aims to establish 250 gaming companies within the Kingdom.

On the creative side, the plan calls for Saudi studios to produce more than 30 globally competitive games. In the competitive arena, the country hopes to rank among the world's top three nations by number of professional esports players.

Why It Matters

For residents and expats across cities such as the Riyadh and Jeddah, the strategy signals growing career and business opportunities in game development, esports, content creation, and related services. Young talent and entrepreneurs may find new pathways in an industry that is being actively supported at a national level.

It is important to note that these figures are national objectives, not achievements already recorded. They represent where the Kingdom hopes to be by 2030. No new change to the SAR 50 billion or 39,000-job targets has been identified. As the sector develops, more opportunities for jobs, startups, and community events are expected to emerge for gamers and professionals alike.
