Saudi Customs Records 1,075 Contraband Seizures in a Week

Customs ports across Saudi Arabia recorded 1,075 seizures of contraband in a single week in early September 2026, spanning land, sea, and air entry points as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and shield society from smuggled goods.

the seizures included 71 types of narcotics — among them hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Captagon pills and other illicit drugs — along with 390 other prohibited materials.

During the same week, customs teams also thwarted 2,234 shipments of tobacco and its derivatives, dealt with 39 cash-related cases, and intercepted 2 types of weapons and related equipment.

Steady enforcement through 2026

The latest tally is consistent with recent weekly results. Customs ports recorded 1,162 seizures in late June, 1,057 in mid-July, and separate late-August weeks logging 1,078 and 1,039 seizures, each covering narcotics, prohibited items, tobacco products, cash cases, and weapons.

The operations are carried out at customs ports overseen by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA). These are criminal and regulatory enforcement actions handled directly by customs and security authorities, not standard traveler or customer services.

For residents and expats, the figures underline the scale of daily monitoring at the Kingdom's borders and the continued focus on keeping narcotics, illegal tobacco, weapons, and other banned goods out of local communities.
