Saudi Arabia's non-oil private sector recorded its fourth consecutive month of growth in July 2026, as the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) stood at 53.1 points,
The July reading marked a slight decline from 53.3 points in June, yet remained comfortably above the neutral 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. Any reading above 50 signals month-on-month growth in business conditions, while a figure below 50 indicates a slowdown.
The PMI is a seasonally adjusted composite index tracking the health of the non-oil private sector. It draws on a survey of around 400 companies across manufacturing, services, construction, and retail. The final figure is a weighted average of five sub-indices: new orders (30%), output (25%), employment (20%), suppliers' delivery times (15%), and stock of purchases (10%).
Why it matters
The steady run of readings above 50 points to sustained momentum in the Kingdom's non-oil economy, a central goal of رؤية السعودية 2030. The index has stayed firmly in expansion territory in recent months, moving from 52.8 in May to 53.3 in June before easing to 53.1 in July.
For residents and business owners in الرياض, جدة, and beyond, the continued expansion reflects ongoing activity across key sectors that support jobs and consumer demand. As of the latest available data, July is the most recent month for which an official PMI reading has been published.
