The Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) has completed arrangements in 2026 for its first international syndicated financing, a combined package worth USD 1 billion aimed at supporting the company's mining and metals growth plans. The deal marks the company's debut in the international syndicated loan market.
The facilities are split evenly into two parts: a USD 500 million international term loan and a USD 500 million international revolving credit facility. At an approximate rate of USD 1 = SAR 3.75, the combined value corresponds to roughly SAR 3.75 billion.
the term loan is designated to back Maaden's overall growth strategy, general corporate purposes, and the financing of expansion projects across its portfolio and business units. The revolving credit facility, meanwhile, is expected to remain undrawn and is structured to provide committed funding capacity to support the company's future expansion and long-term growth plans, both inside the Kingdom and internationally.
Why it matters
The financing reflects continued investment in Saudi Arabia's mining and metals sector, a pillar of the country's economic diversification efforts. Securing committed capacity from international banks and financial institutions gives Maaden added flexibility to pursue expansion without drawing down funds until needed.
These are commercial financing arrangements with international lenders and do not involve Saudi e-government platforms for application, processing, or management. Public disclosures as of August 2026 do not state specific interest margins, profit rates, lender fees, the tenor or maturity of the facilities, or a detailed drawdown schedule beyond standard international syndicated loan practice. No official regulatory changes or new platform requirements tied to this financing have been announced up to August 25, 2026.
