Saudi SME Lending Hits $125bn in 2025, Up 33%

Lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Saudi Arabia reached approximately SAR467-468 billion (about $124.5-124.6 billion) by the end of 2025, marking a 33% increase compared with the previous year. The figure reflects growing access to finance for the Kingdom's smaller businesses.

SME credit accounted for roughly 11.5% of total credit across the financial sector. Banks supplied the bulk of this financing, providing around 95%, while financing companies covered the remainder.

Why it matters

Access to capital is a key challenge for small businesses, and the sharp year-on-year rise signals stronger support for entrepreneurs and job creators. A larger flow of credit to SMEs supports the wider goal of diversifying the economy and expanding the role of the private sector, in line with رؤية السعودية 2030.

Financing terms are not uniform across the market. They vary from one bank or finance company to another, and depend on the specific product, the borrower's credit assessment, and whether a Kafalah guarantee applies. This means the fees, repayment periods, and application steps a business faces will differ case by case.

There are no confirmed changes for 2026 to SME lending fees, validity periods, or application procedures based on available Saudi-specific information. Business owners seeking finance are encouraged to check directly with their bank or finance provider for current terms that fit their situation.
