Saudi Operating Revenues Index Falls 3.2% in June 2026

Saudi Arabia's Operating Revenues Index declined 3.2% month-on-month in June 2026, which showed the index settling at 114.6 points on a 2023 base year.

The monthly drop was driven mainly by a 27.3% fall in mining and quarrying activities. Accommodation and food service activities also contributed to the decline, easing 1.3% compared with the previous month.

Despite the monthly softness, the index recorded solid annual growth, rising 6.1% year-on-year in June 2026. On a yearly basis the picture was mixed across sectors: mining and quarrying was down 10.9% compared with the same month last year, while accommodation and food service activities grew 4.0%.

Why it matters

The Operating Revenues Index tracks the revenues generated by businesses across key sectors, offering a snapshot of commercial activity in the Kingdom. For residents and business owners, movements in the index can signal shifts in demand, hiring, and pricing in areas such as hospitality and dining.

The continued year-on-year growth in accommodation and food services points to sustained activity in the sector that many expats and residents interact with daily, even as short-term monthly figures fluctuate. The wider 6.1% annual gain suggests business revenues remain broadly higher than a year earlier, reflecting ongoing economic momentum across the Kingdom.
