Saudi Private-Sector Jobs Hit 2.7 Million

The number of Saudi citizens employed in the private sector has reached 2.7 million as of September 28, 2026, a milestone that reflects the steady expansion of job opportunities across the Kingdom. Alongside this, the number of registered nonprofit organizations has grown to 8,099 as of the same date.

The nonprofit sector has recorded significant growth in recent years. Employment within the sector rose to 141,432 workers in 2024, compared with just 19,200 in 2017 — a substantial increase that highlights its expanding role in the national economy.

Development spending in the sector also climbed sharply, reaching SAR 6.1 billion in 2024, up from approximately SAR 1.6 billion in 2017. The sector's contribution to gross domestic product now stands at around 1.55%, exceeding SAR 73 billion.

Quality and Focus

Beneficiaries reported high satisfaction with nonprofit services, at approximately 90%. In addition, 97% of the sector is made up of specialized organizations supporting development priorities, pointing to a more focused and effective approach.

For residents and workers across Riyadh, Jeddah, and beyond, these figures signal broader employment prospects in the private sector and a growing network of nonprofit organizations offering services and community support. The combined progress underscores the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to diversify its economy and strengthen social and economic participation under Saudi Vision 2030.
