The Saudi Space Agency has published a free informational guide mapping the major astronomical events visible over Saudi Arabia between 2026 and 2030. The document catalogs solar and lunar eclipses, meteor showers, planetary conjunctions and oppositions, equinoxes, and solstices in a chronological, month-by-month format.
In total, the guide lists 62 events across the five years: 9 in 2026, 12 in 2027, 14 in 2028, 15 in 2029, and 12 in 2030. Each entry comes with a simplified scientific explanation, basic definitions, and timing details intended to help the public understand and safely observe the phenomena.
Standout moments to watch
Several events are highlighted as particularly notable. A total solar eclipse is expected on 2 August 2027 and will be visible from Saudi Arabia, followed by a total lunar eclipse on 31 December 2028. The guide also flags the close approach of asteroid Apophis on 13 April 2029, and an annular solar eclipse on 1 June 2030 that will appear as a partial eclipse over the Kingdom, with a partial lunar eclipse roughly two weeks later.
Public communications describe the 2026–2030 window as five exceptional years for Saudi skies, with a number of the cataloged events considered rare or scientifically significant compared with more routine phenomena.
The guide is available at no cost and can be accessed digitally through the agency's official website. There are no fees, subscriptions, or registrations required on any government platform to view it. It is purely an educational reference and calendar; no ticketing, venue booking, or paid observation programs are included. For families, students, and amateur astronomers across the Kingdom, it offers a practical way to plan ahead for the country's most anticipated night-sky events.
