New Online System for Food Import Permits Launched

The National Agricultural Services has launched a new online service that allows companies to obtain food import permits electronically, streamlining procedures for importers operating in the Kingdom. The service covers poultry meat and products, aquatic animal products of animal origin, and table eggs and their derivatives.

The permit service is accessed through the National Agricultural Services (Agriserv) platform, which is integrated with the Naama electronic services portal of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. Companies authenticate their requests using نفاذ before submitting applications through the Naama portal, while Agriserv handles the fast-track processing and tracking of import permit requests.

How the process works

To use the system, companies first register an account on the Agriserv platform and obtain the relevant import license from the ministry via the Naama portal. After logging in with نفاذ, applicants select the appropriate import permit service, accept the terms of use, and enter order details such as product type, quantities, origin, and destination.

Required documents include a copy of the commercial registration certificate showing the relevant activity, the import license where applicable, an invoice or proforma invoice, a certificate of origin, and a health certificate from the exporting country. For food products of animal origin such as poultry, aquatic products, and eggs, importers must ensure the products and foreign establishments are registered in SFDA electronic systems and submit an import permission request letter with proof of payment.

Once submitted, applicants receive an order number and a link to track the status of their request. The move is expected to reduce paperwork and processing times for food importers, supporting a smoother and more transparent supply chain for businesses across the Kingdom.
