The main Saudi stock market index, the Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) operated by the Saudi Exchange, closed higher in recent sessions, supported by gains in banking and petrochemical shares amid steady trading volumes across sectors.
In one of the latest sessions showing a clearly higher close, TASI ended at 11,027.54 points, up 41.98 points, or 0.38%. In another session the index rose 44.29 points (0.41%) to 10,973.08, and the following trading day it climbed a further 142.29 points, or 1.30%, to reach 11,115.37 points. Banking and petrochemical stocks featured among the gainers in these sessions.
Among individual movers, petrochemical shares such as Sahara International Petrochemical Co. recently traded around 14.22 Saudi Riyal with volumes in the low millions of shares. Major banking shares generally trade in the tens to low hundreds of Saudi Riyal with exact daily prices and changes published in the exchange's detailed daily reports.
Why it matters
Total market turnover in higher-close sessions this year has ranged between roughly 3 and 6 billion Saudi Riyal, with advancing stocks numbering around 80 to 100 and decliners between 150 and 170, pointing to steady, orderly trading.
For residents and expats interested in investing, trading in Saudi stocks is carried out through licensed brokerage firms and banks via their online platforms and mobile apps. Commission schedules, fees, and margin terms are set by each broker and disclosed in Saudi Riyal on their official channels. Notably, there is no retail stock-trading function through government platforms such as أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ, or توكلنا, which serve government, labor, justice, identity, and related services rather than stock-market trading.
