Saudi Tasheer Visa Center Opens at Damascus Embassy

A new Tasheer visa-services center is now operating at the Saudi Embassy in the Syrian Arab Republic, located in the Mazzeh district of Damascus, to receive and process applications for entry visas to the Kingdom. The center was inaugurated on 23 August 2026 in coordination between the Saudi side and the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

The center handles all main categories of Saudi visas for Syrian applicants, including visit visas, work visas, Hajj visas, Umrah visas for the coming season, and transport-related visas for passengers and freight, such as Gulf transit and transport documentation.

The Tasheer center's role focuses on application intake, document verification, appointment handling, and biometric enrollment. Capturing biometric data, including fingerprints and a photo, is mandatory for most visa types and is carried out through digital systems linked to Saudi consular and Foreign Ministry platforms.

How the process works

Visa applications remain tied to the central Saudi Foreign Ministry Visa Platform (visa.mofa.gov.sa), where sponsors inside the Kingdom, whether individuals or companies, usually initiate or approve requests. The Tasheer center then completes the forms, collects the required documents, takes biometrics, and forwards the file. Final visa issuance decisions stay with the Foreign Ministry.

For Syrian applicants, three official channels are involved: the online Visa Platform for applications, status checks, and printing visa documents; the physical Tasheer center in Damascus for submission support and biometrics; and the Saudi Embassy's consular section for final oversight and coordination on issuance.

The step effectively centralizes Saudi visa services for Syrians in Damascus, part of a wider effort to restore and expand consular services. The center is operated by Tasheer, a Saudi visa-services company established in 2019 that runs centers abroad on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
