Saudi Team Wins First Aid World Cup 2026 in Dubai

A team representing the Saudi Red Crescent Authority secured top rankings at the First Aid World Cup 2026, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 24 to 26 August 2026. The championship brought together 162 teams representing 85 national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies from around the world.

The Saudi team achieved first place in the Public Awareness Track, second place in the Innovation Track for first aid and resuscitation, and third place in the Response Track, which is based on scenario-driven first aid challenges. Officials described the results as a global recognition of Saudi first aid capabilities and the competence of national human capital in emergency care and community awareness.

Why it matters for the community

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority operates nationwide with a mandate to deliver emergency medical services and to train community members in first aid. Its main public emergency number in the Kingdom is 19971. In the first half of 2026 alone, the Authority delivered 31,797 training courses benefiting 766,103 participants across the country, reflecting a strong push toward community preparedness.

The recognition also aligns with efforts to build first aid knowledge from an early age. During the 2025–2026 academic year, the Authority is rolling out a first aid curriculum in Saudi secondary schools, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the National Curriculum Center. The program covers CPR and basic emergency care for both adults and children, helping students respond confidently in emergencies.

Residents and expats interested in first aid training can access courses directly through the Authority's own channels. The achievement underscores the growing role of first aid education in strengthening safety and readiness across communities in Riyadh, Jeddah, and beyond.
