STC vs Mobily vs Zain: Internet Guide in Saudi Arabia

Setting up reliable internet is one of the first things anyone living in Saudi Arabia needs to sort out. The three national operators — STC, Mobily and Zain — each offer a wide range of prepaid data bundles, from small monthly allowances to unlimited 5G plans. This Saudi Living guide breaks down the current prepaid options, activation methods and how to choose the right plan for your usage, whether you're a light browser or a heavy streamer working from home.

STC prepaid data bundles

STC offers one of the broadest ranges of prepaid data packages, valid for around four weeks each. Recent bundles include:

• SAR 34.5 — 1 GB for 4 weeks (activation code 7030)
• SAR 86.25 — 5 GB for 4 weeks (code 7175)
• SAR 132.25 — 10 GB for 4 weeks (code 7115)
• SAR 195.5 — 75 GB for 4 weeks (code 7170)
• SAR 276 — 125 GB for 4 weeks (code 7240)
• SAR 414 — unlimited data for 30 days (code 7360)

You can subscribe through the mySTC app, by sending the SMS activation code, or through STC's online package page. Note that the current offers are shown with an end date of 27/09/2026, so confirm live pricing before you commit.

Mobily prepaid data bundles

Mobily's prepaid range is strong on both entry-level monthly plans and long-validity bundles that suit residents who prefer to pay once and forget about it. Current options include:

• SAR 34.5 — 1 GB for 30 days (code 6100)
• SAR 57.5 — 2 GB for 30 days (code 7200)
• SAR 86.25 — 5 GB for 30 days (code 7300)
• SAR 517.5 — 300 GB for 90 days (code 300)
• SAR 1035 — 600 GB for 180 days (code 606)
• SAR 373.75 — unlimited for 30 days (code 4930)
• SAR 1121.25 — unlimited for 90 days (code 4990)

Standard monthly bundles carry a validity of around 28 days, while the larger data packages extend to 90 or 180 days. The 30-day unlimited plan is notably cheaper than the equivalent STC option, making Mobily worth a look for heavy users.

Zain prepaid data bundles

Zain focuses on fewer but larger, longer-term bundles, with a strong emphasis on 5G. Current options include:

• SAR 194.35 — 70 GB for 28 days
• SAR 458.85 — 150 GB for 3 months
• SAR 1148 — 5G unlimited for 3 months

One of the plans uses the activation route F107. Zain's three-month packages appeal to residents who want to lock in coverage over a longer period without frequent renewals.

How to choose the right plan

The best provider depends less on brand loyalty and more on your usage habits and where you live:

• Light users: If you mostly browse, message and check email, a 1–5 GB monthly bundle (around SAR 34.5–86.25) from any of the three is enough.
• Streamers and remote workers: Look at the 75 GB and above tiers, or an unlimited plan. Mobily's 30-day unlimited bundle is currently the most budget-friendly.
• Long-term residents: Mobily's 90 and 180-day bundles, and Zain's three-month packages, reduce how often you have to renew.
• 5G priority: If fast 5G is your main goal, compare Zain's unlimited 5G bundle against STC and Mobily coverage in your neighbourhood.

Check coverage before you commit

Coverage quality can vary significantly between cities and even between districts within the same city. Before buying a long-term bundle, it's worth testing signal strength at home and at work with a short-term or SIM-based plan first. Ask neighbours or colleagues which network performs best in your specific area — real-world experience beats coverage maps.

Activation tips

• Each operator's app (such as mySTC) is usually the easiest way to browse and buy bundles.
• SMS activation codes are handy when you already know exactly which package you want.
• Keep your Iqama and registered number details ready, as SIMs and services in Saudi Arabia are tied to verified identity.
• Prices and offers change frequently, so always confirm current bundles on the official operator app or website before subscribing.
