Accor and Al Qimmah plan 4,000+ hotel rooms in KSA

Global hospitality group Accor and Saudi partner Al Qimmah Hospitality have expanded their development plan in the Kingdom to a portfolio of more than 4,000 hotel rooms, focused on Jeddah, Makkah, and Madinah. The move builds on a master development agreement signed in 2025, which initially targeted around 3,000 new rooms before growing beyond 4,000 keys with additional projects.

As of August 2026, the partnership comprises five hotel projects spanning premium, midscale, and economy segments. In Makkah, the Mercure Makkah Shesha is an existing property under renovation and rebranding, set to offer about 1,078 rooms when it reopens in 2027. Also in Makkah, the ibis Styles Makkah Mesfalah is being renovated and rebranded to about 801 rooms, with completion targeted for 2027.

Two new-build projects are planned for 2029. The Mövenpick Madinah, in the northwest of the city, will feature about 1,015 rooms, while the Swissôtel Jeddah, near King Abdulaziz International Airport, will offer about 288 rooms. The newest addition is the Novotel Makkah, signed in August 2026, with 850 keys and an opening targeted for 2030.

Why it matters

The expanded pipeline concentrates on cities that draw millions of pilgrims and visitors each year, adding accommodation capacity across a range of price points. For residents and travelers, more rooms in Makkah, Madinah, and Jeddah could ease booking pressure during peak seasons and broaden the choice of hotel brands. The plan also supports the wider push to grow tourism and hospitality across the Kingdom.
